The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is going global.

The DMRC, formed over a decade ago, will provide technical knowhow to Metro projects in other countries.
The DMRC has approached authorities in charge of proposed Metro projects in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and the light Metro project in Israel with proposals to join them as consultant, officials said.
The corporation has over the past decade claimed to have developed expertise on all aspects of a Metro system, and is interested in using the knowledge to help other countries.
The DMRC has tried its hand in several Metro projects in India in the past five years.
It has been the consultant and prepared detailed project reports for the Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Jaipur and Kochi Metros.
The DMRC has also been asked to construct the Jaipur and Kochi Metros.
“It’s time for us to go global,” said SD Sharma, director (business development), DMRC. “We have approached the authorities concerned of the countries to get us involved in their projects as consultant,” Sharma added.
Sources said the DMRC has already been chosen as the consultant for the Dhaka Metro project. It has signed joint-venture agreements with several private companies from India, Tokyo, UK and Bangladesh to provide consultancy services to the Dhaka Metro.
The DMRC is also involved in a 527km high-speed railway project connecting Thiruvananthapuram with Kasaragod, its first non-Metro project.
