A team of foreign experts will oversee the exercise, to be held during 10.30am–1pm, and help the government identify loopholes.

Disaster management officials said simulated situations will help assess the promptness of hospitals, fire department, police force and volunteers in the event of a disaster.

While blue (Dwarka-Anand Vihar) and yellow (Jahangirpuri-Gurgaon) lines of the Delhi Metro are likely to be affected, traffic will be hit on major routes.

“The situations include earthquake, fire, bomb blast, building collapse, stampede and terror attack. The drill will be held at 34 locations,” a Delhi government official said. “Independent observers will scrutinise the exercise and based on their report, measures will be taken.”

Since people are often reluctant to help disaster victims fearing police harassment, that issue will also be addressed.
