Gulshan Sharma’s con job, the police said on Tuesday, was so perfect that he went undetected for almost a year. His cover was finally blown when a Delhi resident, Sandeep Sharma, went to the Delhi secretariat with an appointment letter given by Gulshan, posing as the Delhi CM’s private secretary, for Rs 25,000.

Parmaditya, additional DCP (southwest), said, “It was only when Sandeep landed at the secretariat with the letter that he realised he had been duped.”

“When Sandeep confronted him, Gulshan promised him another job in Rajasthan and took him to Jaipur. He told him he was close to Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot,” he added.

“Gulshan told us he is a big fan of Ajay Devgn and was inspired by the films, Rajneeti and Apaharan. He copied the actor’s mannerisms to carry out his crime.”

But when the Jaipur trip did not bear any fruit, Sharma filed a complaint against Gulshan.

The police have established his hand in six cases of cheating.
