The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) approved the land use change of a plot spread over 27,000 sq metres near Akshardham temple for the construction of a new Dilli Haat by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC).

Like its popular predecessor near INA market in south Delhi, east Delhi’s Dilli Haat too will come up on a covered drain.

The DDA has now approved the change of land use, from utility to commercial to facilitate the haat’s construction, covering the Shahdara Link Drain. The Haat will have maximum ground coverage of 40% and floor area ratio 40 and maximum height of 8 metres as per provisions of the Master Plan of Delhi.

DTTDC had built its second Dilli Haat in northwest Delhi’s Pitampura and another is slated to open at Janakpuri. The first one is located opposite the INA market.
