The school principal said that they were also contemplating action against the boy who was allegedly harassing Devyani if they get a complaint from Devyani’s parents or if UP police finds evidence against him.

So far the UP police has not come to Delhi for investigations.

“We have written to the authorities of CSM school, Lucknow and asked for an explanation. We want to know how could they let the student leave the school premises when it was their responsibility to take care of all the participants,” said Sudhir Kumar, principal, Bhatnagar International School, Vasant Kunj.

The school said that a day before Diwali they had warned one of Devyani’s classmates, who was reportedly misbehaving with her.

Devyani had confided in one of her teachers at the school that her classmate was misbehaving with her.

Garima, a friend of Devyani has maintained that the boy was harassing her.

“Devyani was being harassed by one of her classmates. She sent a message to my daughter in the wee hours on Saturday. She wrote- I am at peace now. Good Night. Take Care,” said Mukesh Kumar, Garima’s father.

Garima’s father added that his daughter was depressed after the incident and she has not been attending school.

“The boy was suspended for a week after he misbehaved with Devyani. He was to join on Monday,” added Garima’s father.

The school, however, said that the boy was suffering from viral fever and he was not attending school due to that.

“We had warned Devyani’s classmate, but had not suspended him. If we get a formal complaint and if anything is proved by the police about his involvement in Devyani’s death, then we would definitely take action against him,” added the school principal.

About forty students from Bhatnagar International School and few teachers went to Devyani’s Amar Colony house on Monday to extend their condolence.
