The Games Village, slated to house around 4,000 sportspersons and other team members, was finally cleared for security lock down after round-the-clock work of cleaning the mess.

“(The) Games Village is a priority. She has been spending most of her time there since the last two days. Today she made two rounds since morning and was present at the Games Village till around 1.30 p.m,” said a senior government official.

Dikshit was supposed to inaugurate a 'Park & Ride' facility at the Safdarjung Airport and three pedestrian bridges in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area one after the other, starting at 11 a.m. today.

NDMC officials waited for her but finally around 11.30 a.m., when it was clear that she wasn't coming, NDMC vice-chairperson Tajdar Babar and members Mukesh Bhat and Karan Singh Tanwar went ahead with the inauguration.

Three pedestrian bridges by NDMC and one by the MCD were inaugurated by the officials.

These are: Bheeshma Pitamaha Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Park Street and Africa Avenue.
