The doctor, identified as Jhirmal Singh, 36, and his friend Sohan Singh, 30, were arrested on Tuesday after police raided their Dwarka home in southwest Delhi.
Police recovered eight mobile phones, two gold bangles, three ladies' purses, two fake driving licenses and two passbooks of a Punjab & Sind Bank account opened with fake identity.
A motorcycle with a fake registration number, used in chain snatching, was also recovered.
"The duo confessed that they had committed 20 snatchings in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. Jhirmal revealed that he is a BAMS doctor and was practising at his village in Gurdaspur, Punjab, but due to financial crunch he started snatching/cheating along with Sohan," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest Delhi) Shalini Singh.
