‘Drunk’ driving: 2 students hurt as car hits pillar on BRT stretch

Two students were injured when the car they were travelling in hit a pillar at BRT corridor at Andrews Ganj on Friday, police said. The students, pursuing MBA, were allegedly drunk. Liquor bottles have been recovered from their car. HT reports.

“Javed and Ahmed were coming from Chirag Delhi in a car. Ahmed said after reaching Andrews Ganj, Javed, who was driving, lost control and rammed into a pillar. The pillar fell on the car, trapping them inside,” police said. The incident took place around 5:30am and police had to use gas cutters to rescue them.

They were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre. Their medical examination has reportedly confirmed that they were driving under the influence of alcohol. A case of drunk driving has been registered at the Defence Colony police station.
