“The certificates hold 25 marks out of 100. The remaining marks are for the trials,” said Suchitra Gupta, deputy dean, cultural affairs.

A number of students are interested in applying to colleges under the ECA quota which includes theatre, dance, music, debate and fine arts among others.

Unlike sports, however, not a lot of competitions are held in these fields at the national level.

Most of the certificates that the students have are from inter-school competitions.

“These students will not get the benefit from certificates they produce but if they are worthy, they will get good marks in the trials,” Gupta added.
