Principals, teachers, students and policy makers on Saturday called for focused deliberations and robust mechanisms to ensure the success of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE). The CCE has been introduced by the CBSE for students of class 9 and 10.

“Society does not only need academicians but all kinds of professionals such as musicians and mechanics. By taking away the focus from marks, CCE will help students focus on their interests,” said education minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, speaking at the conference organised by Centre for Applied Sociology.

Seema Jerath, principal of DLF School, said, “The level of anxiety and stress among the students regarding class 10 boards has reduced considerably and encouraged creativity among students.”

But others such as Nalin Kohli, chairman, Vidya Shankar Inernational School, said introduction of CCE was too sudden.

“The system was introduced really quickly, putting stress on not just students but teachers as well. The change should have been gradual,” said Kohli.
