A former deputy mayor and Congress councillor on Monday was remanded to judicial custody by a Delhi court under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for allegedly running a crime syndicate.

The Delhi police invoked provisions of MCOCA against Jain and seven others in August last year for running an organised crime syndicate.
Besides Jain, they also interrogated accused Hitender Singh, Praven Koli, Parmod Singh, Bisham, Vinod Kumar, Devraj and Deepak after obtaining their custody.
