Health experts say the weather is ideal for the spread of water-borne, air-borne and mosquito-borne infections, and ignoring symptoms can be dangerous.

Water-borne diseases
Repeated episodes of diarrhoea are the most common symptoms of gastroenteritis. Loose, watery stools are usually passed three or more times within 24 hours. If your skin is turning white and your eyes turning yellow, it could be a sign of jaundice.

Also, stools can be pale in colour and the urine dark. The symptoms of another serious water-borne infection, typhoid, are similar as the disease usually causes high fever, often as high as 104 degrees Fahrenheit, along with extreme exhaustion.

Mosquito-borne diseases
The common symptoms of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya include high fever (above 103 degrees Fahrenheit), body ache, nausea, vomiting and headaches.

Dengue has few typical symptoms like pain behind the eyes, rashes, itching in the body, and muscular weakness, while typical symptoms of malaria are chills, shivering and flu-like symptoms.

Air-borne diseases
With the rains, common cold or influenza is quite widespread, and the symptoms of common cold usually begin 2-3 three days after a person has contracted infection.

Sore throat, stuffy nose, difficulty in breathing and are few common symptoms.
