Factory owner gets two years in jail for power theft

In two separate cases, four persons from south Delhi’s Munirka and a factory owner of west Delhi have been awarded two years of rigorous imprisonment and cumulatively penalised over Rs. 1.35 crore for power theft by the Special Courts of Electricity — Saket and Dwarka.

In two separate cases, four persons from south Delhi’s Munirka and a factory owner of west Delhi have been awarded two years of rigorous imprisonment and cumulatively penalised over Rs. 1.35 crore for power theft by the Special Courts of Electricity — Saket and Dwarka.

According to power distribution company BSES Rajdhani Power Limited, the Special Court of Electricity, Dwarka, convicted the factory owner for power-theft under section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003.

“He has not only been penalised Rs. 1.32 crore but has also been sentenced to two years of RI. The factory owner was convicted for stealing 103 KW of electricity for industrial purposes,” said a spokesperson.
