‘Family of 8 with water supply for 2’

A housewife who stays with her husband, children and parents — a total of eight people in a freehold two-floor house with no tenants in E-Block of Palam Vihar. The family has been facing a severe water problem since the summer began.

But the last 15 days have been horrible as a HUDA water channel burst near Sector 5 plunging Sector 21, 22,23, and 23A into a water crisis.

Though the HUDA water supply has been restored, the pressure is very low. Almost every alternate day, the water in their tanks dries up. And when the water supply starts, the pressure is so low that it doesn’t fill the underground tanks and therefore cannot be pumped up to the overhead tanks.

This forces the family to buy water from tankers.

Each visit by the water tanker costs Rs 500. The private tanker fills the underground tanks. The same water is pumped up to overhead tanks. Since, the family has no tenants, it has to bear the coat of purchasing water on its own.
