A 26-year-old director of a real-estate company died early on Sunday as he crashed his orange Lamborghini, worth approximately Rs 2 crore, on the BRT corridor between Chirag Dilli and Moolchand.

Police said Anukool Rishi was driving at over 200 km per hour and not wearing his seat belt.

He lost control while trying to overtake a vehicle, climbing the car-bus lane separator and ramming into a bus stop.

Police said the car hit the bus stop railing from the right. Its door broke off under the impact, throwing Rishi out.

"After hitting the railing, the car dragged for another 100 metres, hit a traffic signal pole at Panchsheel Enclave and stopped," a senior Delhi Police officer said.

"Rishi died because of injuries in the stomach. Over a dozen iron rods from the railing hit him. Even the car's airbag couldn't save him as he was thrown out," the officer said, adding that not wearing the seat belt turned fatal.

Rishi worked with MVL Limited in Gurgaon and lived in Sainik Farms.

Kishan, a resident of Dakshinpuri, was hit by the car and suffered serious injuries.

"He is critical but stable. We are waiting for him to be fit enough to give a statement," the officer said.
