Two children were critically injured in an accidental firing at a birthday party in Muradnagar area here, police said today.

Two children were critically injured in an accidental firing at a birthday party in Muradnagar area here, police said today.

The mishap occurred when Lalit and Pawan, aged 5 and 9 years respectively, had gone to attend a birthday party and their uncle accidentally fired a gun, injuring both of them, said officials.

The injured children were rushed to a hospital in Meerut where their condition was stated to be critical, they said.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a trader was shot at and critically injured by an unidentified person, near a hotel in the district last night, said police.

Shahid, 37, was rushed to a local nursing home in a critical condition, they said.

In yet another shooting incident, a 50-year-old man was shot at in Loni town, 24 km from Ghaziabad, police said.

Mayaram was reportedly shot at when he denied access to some local builders to a construction site through his field, said officials, adding that he was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital nearby where he was said to be out of danger.
