Games lane restriction from today, avoid airport to Games Village roads

The Delhi Traffic Police will start enforcing penalties and lane restrictions for the first time from Friday morning.Any vehicle entering the lanes reserved for the movement of Commonwealth Games traffic will be fined Rs 2,000.

Also, Delhiites should be prepared for huge traffic jams in the city on Friday morning as well as night as more than 140 athletes and officials would be arriving at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) that day.
Traffic from IGI airport to the Commonwealth Games Village in east Delhi is going to be affected from 11 a.m. to 12 noon and 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. when the contingent arrives in batches.

Vehicles will not be allowed on the dedicated lanes reserved for them.

Roads that people should avoid are IGI Airport, Dhaula Kuan, Sardar Patel Marg, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Lodhi Road, Mathura Road, Ring Road near Bhairon Marg and NH-24.

General public is expected to give way to Games-related traffic on hearing hooter or siren from traffic pilot motorcycle and on directions of traffic police officials posted at intersections.
