Gangrape case: Police oppose bail plea of Akshay

The Delhi Police on Saturday opposed the bail plea of Akshay Singh, an accused in the December 16 gang-rape case, stating that the accused might flee, tamper with evidence or try and influence the witnesses.

Special public prosecutor Dayan Krishnan, opposing the bail plea, said: “The accused played a vital role in the commission of the offence in question”.

He added that the gravity of the offence could be gauged by the perusal of the medical legal case of the victim, who after the act by the accused (Akshay) and others, succumbed to her injuries.
