Help kills friend, injures another

A 22-year-old cook, working at the house of a sitting judge in Allahabad High Court in south Delhi's Safdarjung Enclave, was killed while his friend critically injured when they were attacked with a knife allegedly by their common friend — also a domestic help — on Thursday morning.

The incident was reported to the police at 2.40am. The deceased, identified as Dinesh Kumar, as well as the accused lived in separate servant quarters of the four-storey building. According to the police, the judge lives in Allahabad.

The three had an argument over the issue of homosexuality that later turned ugly and the accused attacked the victims with a knife, the police said.

"They consumed liquor and later indulged into a fight over the issue of homosexuality. During the melee, Gopal stabbed Kumar and Shrawan and fled. The victims were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where Kumar was declared brought dead," said the officer, adding the condition of Shrawan was stable.

Kumar's friend Shrawan suffered four deep stab wounds on his body and he is undergoing treatment at AIIMS. The accused domestic help — Madan Gopal — is absconding ever since the matter came to fore, the police said.

A police officer said that Gopal worked at the house of Kamal Sharma, a businessman, who lives on the second floor of the building. Kumar's employer, son of the judge, lives with his family on the first floor.

Police have registered a case of murder and attempt to murder against Gopal and are looking for him. Kumar was employed at the house for over two years.
