High Court asks for an independent DERC chairman

Taking strong note of the mess preceding the decision on fixing of new power tariff, the Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi government and Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) to be cautious before appointing its new chairman. HT reports.

The post stands vacant now. “Get a person outside the pulls and pressures as a chairman…preferably an economist,” the court said.

The person should be one on whom all the stakeholders have confidence. HTC
