Luckily for them, Angad Singh and his brother-in-law Sherry Singh escaped with minor injuries when their Porsche Carrera, a mid-engined sports car, driven by the former crashed into the wall of Children’s Park at India Gate near Zakir Hussain Marg crossing.

The accident took place at 3.50am on Sunday morning when Angad, 23, and Sherry were going to Bangla Sahib Gurudwara from Faridabad in their high-end imported car which can hit speeds of 200kmph in just 12 seconds.

“The speeding sports car was on the India Gate roundabout when the driver lost control and rammed the car into the wall of Children’s Park. The impact was high, but the foolproof safety system of the high-end car saved both the driver and the passenger,” a senior Police officer said.

The inflated airbags of the four-seater black colour Porsche, which comes at a price tag of almost Rs 1.1 crore, averted the accident from turning into a fatal one.

“The accident could have been fatal. Thankfully both received minor injuries in the accident. We received a PCR call at 3:55am and both were let go after an alcohol test,” the officer added.

According to the police, Angad and his brother-in-law Sherry, both residents of Faridabad, were going to Bangla Sahib Gurudwara for morning prayers.

“Initial tests have confirmed that both weren’t driving under the influence of alcohol. It’s a simple case of over-speeding. The car which has a Punjab number plate is owned by Angad who runs an automobile spare parts manufacturing firm,” the officer added.
