Homeless, family mourns its dead out on the street

As another day dawned on Parvatiya Colony, grief hung heavy in its air. Rendered homeless, the family of Shobha Ram Sherawat mourned the deaths of its three members in the street.

"We did spend some time in a nearby dharamshala that had been booked for us by the authorities. But due to lack of facilities, I found it better to mourn their deaths in the street," Sherawat said. The relatives, well-wishers and even some unknown people sat in the street, consoling Sherawat, his son Deepak and grandsonYash.

As if the grief of losing three family members wasn't enough, Sherawat also alleged that the gold earrings of two of their deceased have gone missing ever since the bodies came back from the morgue.

Even though Sherawat says he has informed the cops, they feigned ignorance. "I have come to know about this only now. I will get the matter investigated," Praveen Mehta, DCP, NIT area, said.

On Wednesday night, an air ambulance carrying seven people had crashed on Sherawat's rented home, killing his wife Vedwati, daughter-in-law Rani and daughter Savita.
