Humayun Tomb complex to be developed

The Archaeological Survey of India, CPWD and the MCD have entered into a MoU with Aga Khan Foundation to undertake an urban renewal project at Humayun’s Tomb, Minister of State for Tourism Kanti Singh told the Rajya Sabha.

The Archaeological Survey of India, Central Public Works Department and the Municipal Cooperation of Delhi have entered into an Memorandum of Understanding with Aga Khan Foundation to undertake an urban renewal project at Humayun’s Tomb in the capital, Minister of State for Tourism Kanti Singh told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

The MoU with the Agha Khan Trust for Culture and Agha Khan Foundation was signed on July 11, 2007 to undertake urban renewal project at Humayun’s Tomb-Nizamudding Basti and Sundar Nursery, Singh said, adding that so far Rs six crore have been spent on conservation of the monument.

It is anticipated that about Rs 20 crore would be required to carry out other works in the complex, he said.

The requisite funds are provided by the Agha Khan Foundation as per the MoU.
