Hunting down criminals in its own ranks

This year action was taken against more than 1,300 policemen for various charges like bribery and negligence in performing their duties. Last year, the police had taken disciplinary action against 1,429 of its own men.

Delhi Police even conducted sting operations to nab the guilty among their own force.

The vigilance branch conducted four sting operations in which criminal cases were registered and 12 policemen were found involved in corrupt practices.

At least 145 policemen were dismissed from service when the charges ranging from corruption and negligence in performing duties against them were found to be true.

Action was taken against as many as 474 constables followed by 330 head constables. Three inspectors were also dismissed from service this year.
