Instead of filing a police complaint, officials allegedly did not allow Vijendra Singh, 40, to take away his car unless he got the damaged wall repaired.

“I was returning from a wedding when the accident occurred. The front tyre of my car got punctured, I lost balance and the car rammed into the wall,” Singh said.

The Sohna resident added, “I was still recovering from the shock of the collision when IAF officials surrounded me. One of them said that a police complaint would waste a lot of time and we should compromise on the matter.” He suggested that Singh bear the entire cost of repairing the wall.

“I agreed to pay but there was no need for officials to keep me here. It’s been two days,” Singh said. According to sources, Singh arranged a contractor and mason to rebuild the wall.

A local police officer, meanwhile, said that there was an accident call but no case was filed.

“We had gone to the spot but both parties refused to file a complaint. Since no one was injured, they agreed on a compromise,” said an officer posted in the Sector 17-18 police station.

IAF spokesperson TK Singha said, “The matter was brought to the notice of the police who asked if we can arrive at a compromise. The claimant agreed to repair the damaged wall and nearly 70% of the work is already complete.”
