The special emissary of external affairs ministry, Amarendra Khatua was on his second official visit as Special Envoy of the Government of India to the Sudan, South Sudan and Ethiopia last week.

On South Sudans' interest for a mini mobile refinery, the envoy said that a team of experts from ONGC and Madras Petroleum Refinery Ltd will visit South Sudan to explore the modalities. He also conveyed India's agreement to undertake solar electrification projects in South Sudan and would provide necessary technology and equipment

He met the Secretary General in the Ministery of Petroleum Awad Al Fatah Mohamed and, Haile Menkerios, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Sudan and South Sudan and also met with the OVL officials in Khartoum.

He urged upon the leadership of Sudan to continue with its efforts to bring peace and stability in the region and work out a mutually agreed solution with South Sudan for cessation of hostilities and implement the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
