On Friday, the minimum temperature touched a six-year low at 2.7°C, and according to the weatherman, the minimum temperature on Saturday is expected to be around 3°C.

The last time the Capital experienced anything close to this was on January 8, 2007, when it touched 2.6°C. However, the lowest ever temperature recorded in the city is -0.6°C way back on January 16, 1935.

If Delhi shivered on Friday, its NCR cousins chattered. In Gurgaon the minimum temperature touched 0.7°C, while Hindon and Faridabad recorded 0.6°C and 1.7°C respectively.

The maximum temperature, however, was warmer at 15.7°C, five degrees below normal but up from Wednesday’s record 9.8°C.

“Fog is expected in the morning but the sky will clear up by late morning,” a Met department official said.

The previous few days have witnessed low temperature coupled with winds blowing in from the hills. This has resulted in wind chill factor, a phenomenon caused by high-speed winds, which makes a person feel colder than it actually is on the ground.
