"Jaya Bachchan is a Samajwadi MP. Where is the question of asking her to quit?" Mohan Singh, who has replaced Amar Singh as the face of the party, told IANS.

He said the party had not found Jaya Bachchan indulging in anti-party activities despite Bachchan having termed the party decision to sack Amar Singh as "very wrong".

Asked what was the party's stand on Jaya Bachchan's criticism, the new SP leader said: "Where has she spoken? She has not spoken against the party, she didn't indulge in any anti-party activities."

Jaya Bachchan on Tuesday said she was "sad and hurt" over Amar Singh's expulsion, and added, "A lot of people have managed to bully Mulayam Singh-ji into taking this decision."

She has also maintained that she won't quit the party unless SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav asks her to.
