Aditi Shrivastava, a 2008 alumnus of Delhi College of Arts and Commerce finds herself in a fix. She, like many students had planned on giving the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination on May 17. However, she found that the entrance exams for MA International Relations and MA Arts and Aesthetics in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) are scheduled on the same day.
“Many students like me want to give the UPSC exam. However, with competitive exams, the problem is you are unsure of getting through. As a result, you have to keep other options. The problem is two of the most popular courses and the UPSC prelims are on the same day. I have been preparing for the UPSC for the past 6 months, and the master’s is a second option. Now, I don’t know which exam to give,” she said.
Director of Admissions, JNU, K.C.Upadhyay said, “When we set the examination dates, we were not aware of the dates of the UPSC exam. We usually conduct examinations during mid-May. However, if it seems that a change is required, we might consider it.”
