Sources said DP Satish was returning to his Mayur Vihar residence from his in-laws’ home in Malviya Nagar when he had an altercation with twelve Tricolour-toting bikers at 10.10pm.

“The victim had hired an Indica car to visit his relatives and was on the Niti Bagh road when he objected to 12 men — two each on six bikes — zig-zagging around his vehicle. According to the complainant, they were all wearing Gandhi caps and holding Indian flags,” said a senior police officer requesting anonymity.

The bikers then surrounded the victim, forcing his driver to slow down before finally stopping the vehicle near the Niti Bagh-August Kranti Marg crossing. He was then forcibly pulled out of the car and thrashed.

The police have registered a case of wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt and attempting to commit a culpable crime against unknown persons at Malviya Nagar Police Station.
