Having earlier said that the Olympics would be next on their agenda, Kalmadi put a question mark as to when they could bid for the biggest sporting extravaganza. Asked if India was now preparing for the Olympics after hosting the CW Games, Kalmadi said, “Well I have a dream (of getting Olympics to India), but I don’t know when...”

“I will decide after the Commonwealth Games. We have to speak to the Government after the Games," Kalmadi said.

Kalmadi further said it was satisfying to see the performance of Indian athletes who are hanging on to their second-place in the Games medals tally.

“The biggest legacy is Olympic sport but most of the youngsters are tuned to cricket which is played by 10 countries. We are trying to make a lot of new icons to lead the youth of India and this is being achieved. I am happy about it.”
