Kerala's food grain quota has reportedly been cut by nearly 90 per cent, from over 100,000 tonnes to 17,000 tonnes over the past year.

The MPs, who held the protest before the Lok Sabha session began, said the government “should not divide people in the name of above poverty line and below poverty line”.

On Tuesday, members of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) wanted to move an adjournment notion in the Lok Sabha on the issue. When this was denied, they staged a walkout.
