The deceased was identified as Komal and she was the sole child of her parents. Komal’s father Panna Lal, works in a fancy light manufacturing factory in Mansarovar Park area. A case of rash and negligent driving causing death was registered against the unknown driver at the Mansarovar Park police station.

The errant driver fled after admitting the victim in a private nursing home and the police are making efforts to nab him. The police said they have the registration number of the SUV that was noted down by some eyewitnesses. They are also examining the footage of a CCTV camera, which reportedly captured the accident.

Komal was playing in the lane outside her house when the speeding Mahindra XUV 500 hit her.

“Komal fell on the road and sustained severe injuries. Some local residents immediately surrounded the SUV and overpowered the errant driver, who requested them that he will surrender before the police but only after rushing the victim to the nearby nursing home,” said a senior police officer.
