Lalu announces Rs 5 lakh compensation for the kin of dead

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad tonight announced Rs five lakh compensation and a job to the next of kin of those who were killed when Howrah-Chennai Coromandal Express derailed in Orissa.

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad tonight announced Rs five lakh compensation and a job to the next of kin of those who were killed when Howrah-Chennai Coromandal Express derailed in Orissa.

He also said Rs, 50,000 compensation would be given to those seriously injured and Rs 10,000 to those who sustained minor injuries.

Free treatment to all injured in the accident has been asssured by the Railway Minister.

“Minister of State of Railways R Velu, Chairman of the Railway Board S S Khurana and Board member (Engineering) S K Vij will reach the accident spot tomorrow and make an assessment of the incident,” Prasad told reporters.
