Lawyers protest ‘police atrocities’, strike work; litigants suffer

“These strikes are a real pain. I came from Sonepat to find that no one was working in courts. My lawyer refused to appear,” said Gurpreet Singh a businessman from Sonepat.

Scores of litigants visiting the district courts complained about the undue delay in hearing of their cases.

“I see maximum number of strikes taking place in courts... Litigants are suffering,” said Pritam Anand a south Delhi-based businessman.

Delhi Bar Association President Rajiv Khosla said: “Instead of taking action against the erring police officers responsible for assaulting an advocate and his wife, the Gurgaon police registered an FIR against the advocates who were protesting against the wrongs being committed by the police”.
