Light fog again, but air traffic not affected much this time

At least six domestic flights were delayed by an hour due to the mild fog — two flights each to Chennai and Srinagar and one each to Patna and Amritsar.

The general visibility dropped to 300 metres and the runway visual range was recorded at 700 metres at around 7 am.

However, visibility at the airport improved quickly and that is why there were not many flight delays.

This winter has been unusually fog free at the Delhi Airport, which witnesses very dense fog and large scale flight disruptions around this time of the year every winter.

Last year, the airport had already experienced over 50 hours of dense fog by this time.

The met department has not forecast dense fog in the coming days.

"The formation of dense fog requires some atmospheric conditions. This winter all the factors responsible for fog are not present," said a met department official.

Though dense fog usually sets in at the airport from December 10, this time the temperature was too high even when there was enough moisture in the atmosphere.

Now that the mercury is dipping, there is no moisture.

The western disturbances, which brings moisture, is not very active.
