A team of Delhi Police found Lahiri from a hotel in Kolkata and arrested him on January 27. "We had sent a team to Kolkata to track him. He was brought to Delhi on transit remand and produced before the court," said deputy commissioner of police (Indira Gandhi International Airport) O.P Mishra.

The police had earlier, through the Ministry of External Affairs (MHA), had sent out a lookout notice and sent teams to different states in search for Lahiri.

Lahiri was held for carrying live cartridges on January 20 at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
