Lok Adalat settles 4,000 cases in a day

A special Lok Adalat organised by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority on Saturday disposed of over 4,000 cases that were pending before the six district courts at Patiala House, Tis Hazari, Karkardooma, Rohini, Dwarka and Saket.

A special Lok Adalat organised by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority on Saturday disposed of over 4,000 cases that were pending before the six district courts at Patiala House, Tis Hazari, Karkardooma, Rohini, Dwarka and Saket.

The Lok Adalat, which comprised 58 benches, dealt with cases relating to dishonour of cheques, civil, labour, electricity, criminal compoundable offences and recovery matters.

It also awarded over R45.20 lakh as compensation in various motor accident cases.

Out of more than 4,000 cases, 197 criminal cases were disposed of by way of plea bargaining in a special sitting.

Besides this, 33 cases were disposed of at pre-litigative stage. All these cases have been settled and there will be no further appeals.
