Food is one of the main problem areas as the Organising Committee has re-issued its tenders multiple times to zero in on a caterer for the venues and other spots apart from the Games Village.

The key concern areas for the catering Functional Areas are delivery of hydration, meals to remote locations, athlete venue meals and food safety.

The main dining area at the Games Village will serve 36,000 meals per day from this one location.

It will be a 24-hour operation, serving a menu that shall represent the six regions of the Commonwealth.

This dining facility will be able to seat 2,200 athletes and team officials and a workforce of 700 at any given time.

Surprise and delight elements have been added to the menu to enhance the entire dining experience for the athletes and guests.

The contract for catering at the Games Village has been awarded to M/s Delaware North Companies and M/s PKL Group (UK) Ltd. has been selected as the kitchen equipment supplier.

According to sources, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is gaining ground to be the official venue caterer.

Earlier, the Organising Committee cancelled all but one contract of caterers barely 70 days ahead of the Games as negotiations fell apart.
