Man arrested for beating niece to death

A 20-year-old man, who allegedly beat his three-year-old niece to death after an argument with his sister, was arrested here this morning, police said.

Ravi was apprehended from Tigri Extension at Neb Sarai. The incident took place in Neb Sarai on Thursday evening and the deceased, Babita, breathed her last on Friday morning at AIIMS.

Police said Babita's mother Poonam (31) and two-year-old sister Radha, who were also injured in the incident, are recuperating at the hospital currently. Babita was living with her mother and sister at her uncle Ravi's house in a slum cluster in NebSarai. Poonam started living with her brother after she got separated from her husband a couple of months back.

On the day of the incident, the official said, an argument broke out between Ravi and Poonam on some issue during which he turned violent and allegedly assaulted Poonam and her two daughters.
