A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his maternal grandmother who lived alone in Amar Colony in southeast Delhi last month, police said.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his maternal grandmother who lived alone in Amar Colony in southeast Delhi last month, police said.

The accused identified as Sunny Kumar was arrested along with his friend Sajal Kumar from Gurgaon on Wednesday.
The victim identified as Basanti Pawar, a local politician, lived alone in her flat at Amar Colony.
The murder was detected on June 21 after neighbors complained of a foul smell emanating from the house, police said.
She has a daughter and four sons, police said. The accused is the son of Pawar’s daughter, police said. During investigations it was found that entry of the assailants inside the house was friendly.
“We knew that someone known to the victim was involved in the murder. The accused grandson had come to the house with a motive of robbery. They knew that the senior citizen kept lot of jewellery at her house,” said a senior police officer on conditions of anonymity.
Police said the grandson allegedly committed the murder with the help of his friend.
The accused had smothered Pawar to death with a pillow, police said.
After killing the woman, the accused had dumped clothes and furniture on her body, police said.
