Brijesh Kumar Jain was apprehended following a raid in a godown in Jagatpur yesterday on a tip-off, PS Kushwah, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (crime), said.
Jain told the police that he dealt in the supply of horticulture equipment. “He was aware of their demand in local markets. He purchased the insecticides and fertilisers which have passed their expiry date,” Kushwah said.
“He sourced these insecticides from Gujarat’s Akhileshwar. After removing their packages, he would put the fertilisers in loose polythene and supplied them to the local market at low rates,” the DCP said.
