‘My family is deeply religious’

Profession: Garg used to run a business of cereals before he became actively involved in politics during 1958.

Education: Studied till Class X.

Political career: He joined the BJP in 1958. Entered electoral politics when he contested the municipal polls in 1983 but failed to win. He has contested Assembly elections thrice but managed to register a win only in 2003. Associated with the BJP since its inception. He has held many posts in the party such as treasurer, district president and was also the BJP state president in 1997.

Family: Wife Angoori is a homemaker. They have five sons and a daughter. Garg claims there is no religious place in the country that he has not visited. “We have a joint family and I don’t believe in the concept of nuclear family. My family is deeply religious and I have visited every religious place in India,” he said.

Cars: The Gargs own two Honda City cars, two Santro Xings and a Hyundai Getz.
