The sealing squad of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will soon be taking action against a number of residential properties in the national capital where commercial activity is being carried out.

The civic agency’s building department had carried out a survey to ascertain the total number of properties in Delhi where such commercial activities are being carried in contravention to the Master Plan of Delhi 2021. After the survey was conducted, the MCD has identified 22,000 industrial units operating from residential and non-conforming areas.
According to the civic agency, sealing action will be initiated soon. As per the routine exercise, the civic agency will be sending notices to these 22,000 traders to shift their units to the sites allotted by the MCD in various industrial areas such as Bawana, Narela, among others.
A large number of units are situated mainly in areas such as Anand Parvat, Shahdara, Sultanpur Majra, Dabri, Shalimar Bagh, Jawahar Nagar, New Mandoli, Rithala, Karawal Nagar and Naresh Park extension.
“We have been carrying out a survey in all our zones following the court’s order to find out where all industrial units were being run from residential areas. Notices will be sent to them now. We will give them time to shift their units to industrial areas but in case they refuse, we will take sealing action,” said a senior MCD official.
