The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is all set to start numbering of newly developed colonies and houses in the city.

The civic agency said the Ministry of Home Affairs has intimated the civic body that Census of India 2011 is to be conducted in Delhi in two phases.
Under the census, houses will be listed in May 2010. To facilitate the drive, the civic agency has to number household properties.
“The process will start next week and the exercise will take about a month’s time. The move will ensure better administration in these areas and help in collection of property tax too,” said Deep Mathur, director press and information.
He said there was no plan to alter the already existing numbers or addresses.
“The move is to ensure the newly developed colonies and houses are assigned a number. The process will start by January and is likely to be completed in the next one month,” said a senior MCD official.
