Even after 15 days of mayor’s election, the government is yet to notify it.

A city-based lawyer plans to move court over the issue on Thursday. “Notification must be done immediately. It can take a few days, but why has this not been done as yet when the house meeting is less than a week from now?” he said.

Local Congress leaders are a bit confused. “I enquired about the notification with joint commissioner YS Gupta, but I was told that the notification is not needed as per the act,” said GL Sharma, district president of Congress (urban).

However, the mayor is indifferent to the entire issue. “Everything has been done. No notification is required as per the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act,” said Vimal Yadav, mayor of Gurgaon.

About the first house meeting, the mayor told HT that the agenda and venue had not been decided as yet.

By Thursday, the venue will be decided.

Ideally, the meeting should take place in the corporation’s office, but due to the paucity of parking space, it has been ruled out.

On July 9, all three top office-bearers will be officially introduced to the staff of the corporation. “There would be employees from the junior engineer rank to the level of joint commissioner. The meeting will be organised at the old office of the municipal corporation,” Yadav added.
