The maximum temperature in the city was, however, recorded at 35.8 degrees Celisus as against Saturday's 35.2 degrees Celsius, the Met department said.

The minimum temperature, on the other hand, dipped to 21 degrees Celsius from Saturday's 24.7 degrees Celsius, owing to the rainfall in the morning hours.

The overall rainfall was recorded at 43.4 mm.

According to the weatherman, similar weather conditions will continue on Monday with the mercury hovering around 35 degrees. As per the forecast, there is possibility of rains with dust storms and thunderstorms accompanied by hail and storm in the next 24 hours.

The month of May began with a sizzling 44.2 degrees, the season's highest.

In the past 10 years, the month of May has recorded maximum above 44 degrees five times. The record for the past ten years was 46 degrees, which was recorded on May 19, 2002.
