“The shops and houses which were damaged have been assessed and an action plan for their repair is underway,” said Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in a statement in New Delhi.

The DMRC, however, denied media reports that said there were cracks in the buildings near the accident site.

“Some reports have indicated that there were cracks in the buildings which the residents claim had been caused by the metro construction. Our engineers inspected the site in detail and clarified that these cracks were pre-existing and not connected with the construction in the area,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, the work at the accident site at Zamrudpur is continuing.

“A mock-up exercise using diamond cutters was tested today (Saturday) successfully at the site to cut the fallen pre-stressed concrete girder,” the statement said.
