"An altercation took place at 8pm when SK Jain demanded a refund of the cash deposit of his Smart Card," said Bhairon Singh Gurjar, additional deputy commissioner police (railways).

"Jain used abusive language and tried to put his hands into the cash drawer. This led to physical confrontation between Jain and customer care staff," said a senior DMRC official.

Jain told the police that the customer care official was the one who started abusing first. "We have suspended the staff member and also the station controller after the incident and have ordered a probe,” said Anuj Dayal, CPRO, DMRC.
