The fire was immediately doused and no one was injured in the incident that occurred at 4.40 pm. The construction site of the upcoming Terminal 3 is located near the existing international terminal.
The incident was caused by a faulty UPS battery, kept
at the basement of the project site and caught fire due to short circuit.
By the time the fire could be doused, it had spread to about 20-25 batteries.
A spokesman of the private airport operator Delhi International Airport Ltd said that there was only a minor fire. "It was attended to immediately and contained. Construction activity is going on unhampered and no damage to property or human life was reported."
